ICC Women's CWC 2022 | NZ-W vs WI-W | Match Preview, Predictions, Fantasy XI

So here we are in for the 12th edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup. The inauguration of this wonderful tournament will happen on 4th March 2022 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui where the hosts New Zealand Women will square off against West Indies’ Women team.

The host team who finished fifth in the last edition are heading into this edition with firm confidence after winning 4-1 against India in their own backyard. They have lifted the silverware once way back in the year 2000 and they could do it again.

The White Ferns had two warm-up games which gave them a 50-50 result as they won and lost apiece. They were defeated by Pakistan Women in the first warm-up game, by 4 wickets, in a closely fought game. While, in the other warm-up game, they chased down a mammoth target of 322 runs with nearly 7 overs left.

West Indies Women, on the other hand, were just below in the last edition. They are yet to win this tournament and will try hard to surpass the tagline of ‘Under-Dogs'.

In the recently conducted 4-match ODI series against South Africa Women, they lost it by a margin of 2-1. To add to their woes they weren’t able to get past Australia Women and India Women in the two warm-up games.

The problem arises in their batting rather than in their bowling. They are not getting the starts they need, leaving the middle and lower-order little too much to do.

Only once in the history of the tournament have they reached the finals where they bowed down to the mighty Aussie Women’s back in 2013. They would line up to begin their trophy hunt with a win.

Coming to the team news, White Ferns have a great top-order with the likes of skipper Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr. Almost every NZ batter is in form. In the bowling department, they will rely heavily on Lea Tahuhu and Hannah Rowe.

Meanwhile, Windies Women have a bit of a problem in their batting part and will be happy if their skipper Stafanie Taylor comes back to the form. They will be backing on the services of star players - Deandra Dottin, Anisa Mohammed and Hayley Matthews.
