A month-long ICC Women's Cricket World Cup came to an exuberant end on Sunday as Australia's triumph over England in the finale of the event marked their seventh ODI title.
With the tournament now done and dusted, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the Upstox Most Valuable Team (MVT) of the competition, filled with star players from Australia, South Africa, and England.
Expectedly, no Indian cricketer featured in the 12-player list. Notably, the Mithali Raj-led side suffered a league-stage exit in the recently-concluded tournament.
Coming back to Upstox Most Valuable Team, four Australians found their way. Alyssa Healy, the Player of the Tournament, made the cut as an opener. The wicketkeeper-batter was joined by her compatriots in the team, namely, skipper Meg Lanning, Rachel Haynes and Beth Mooney.
Laura Wolvaardt paired up with Healy at the top. The Proteas opener scored 324 runs during the course of the tournament and played a great hand in her side's progress to the semis. Marizanne Kapp and Shabnam were the other two South Africans who found a spot in the XI.
England also had two of their players in the form of Sophie Ecclestone and Nat Sciver, entering the MVT. While Natalie Sciver played a lone-hand in the final, scoring 148 runs, Ecclestone was the highest wicket-taker of the competition with 21 scalps to her name.
Hayley Matthews of West Indies and Bangladesh's Salma Khatun also made it to the XI.
Charlie Dean has also been given a mention and holds the position of a 12th player.
Upstox Most Valuable Team: Laura Wolvaardt, Alyssa Healy (wk), Meg Lanning (c), Rachael Haynes, Natalie Sciver, Beth Mooney, Hayley Matthews, Marizanne Kapp, Sophie Ecclestone, Shabnim Ismail, Salma Khatun, Charlie Dean (12th player).
