ICC Women's CWC 2022 | ENG-W vs IND-W | Match 15, Preview, Predictions, Fantasy XI

In a must-win game, England Women will cross paths with India Women at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 16, 2022.

England Women are still hunting for their first win in the tournament and languishing at the bottom half of the points table. On the other hand, India Women have won two out of their three games and are positioned third.

England have now lost three close matches, which went down the wire. They went head-to-head against South Africa Women in their latest clash and lost by three wickets. However, they were on the receiving end of Marizanne Kapp’s brilliance, with the ball as she bagged a five-for and scored crucial 32 runs with the bat.

Though Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones revived the side from a collapse with fifties, the end result wasn’t something pleasing for Heather Knight’s side. The bowlers were modest and failed to break the partnership when required.

Now that they have shifted Danielle Wyatt to the top order, leaving Lauren Winfield Hill, they can go with an extra bowling option. But Wyatt hasn’t been in the best forms, which has been one of the worries for this side.

On the flip side, centuries by Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur were enough to brush aside the team from the Caribbean in their latest clash. However, the Indian side seems to be in good shape, with a lot of them contributing towards victories.

Indian bowlers were brilliant in the last game as they ran through the West Indies middle and lower-order after the initial carnage from Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews. In the process, Jhulan Goswami (40) became the most wicket-taker in the Women’s World Cup history, surpassing Lynette Fallston (39).

But the worry for the Women in Blue would be regarding the form of skipper Mithali Raj, wicket-keeper batter Richa Ghosh and their openers, Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma.

However, it's noteworthy that the English Women will be blazing all guns for their first win as it's a must-win for them. Indian Women, on the other hand, will be looking to go with the momentum and secure the necessary points.

Matt Prior points ‘huge problem’ as ECB prepare to launch high-performance review into Test cricket

As England prepare to launch a high-performance review to make their cricket come back to the top in all formats of the game, former keeper-batsman Matt Prior has come out to point out the exact issues that plague the system at the moment. Prior, a veteran of 79 Test matches and considered as one of England’s very best, has argued that the England Cricket Board’s Pathways programme is massively hurting the country chances of discovering the top talents. The former cricketer, while talking on a talkSPORT podcast, stated that the expense of playing cricket at the junior category is stopping many parents from entering the sport. “Where I feel this is very wrong is that kids are being asked to go to trials and they’re being selected on their talent and then being told we want you to be part of the pathway and then the parents are being slapped with a bill,” Prior said. He added that instead of paying big money to the international players to come and play very few innings in County Cricket, that could be diverted into age-group competitions and sponsor these kids. “Whatever is crucial in your business and make it successful you budget for that. So what counties are saying is that we’re not budgeting for pathway because we don’t see it as important. But we’ll get the overseas player for 150 grand for five games, we’re not talking about millions here, we’re talking about one hundred, two hundred grand to fund a development pathway per year. “You’re telling me you can’t find the budget to give the most talented cricketers in your county the best opportunity? I’m calling that, I’m sorry.” England have suffered massively over the last World Test Championship cycle failing to bring up classic Test match batters that could survive the initial burst from the bowlers. However, it was their recent routing against Australia Down Under that really put focus back on restructuring their cricket.

PAK vs AUS | Babar-Shafique keep visitors at bay with steady partnership at Tea

Pakistan captain Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique kept the Australia attack at bay putting up 83 runs between them. The partnership was crucial for Pakistan’s survival in the fourth innings, after they lost the wickets of Imam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali for just 22 runs. It was an incredible spell of bowling from the Australians after declaring early on day 4, making life hell for the batters out there. They barely bowled any loose balls in the first 20 overs, piling up pressure on the host batters. The result was that Imam gave into Nathan Lyon’s arm ball, that caught him plumb in front of the wickets to bring the first wicket for Australia. The Pat Cummins led attack bowled very well on the day, and could have had more rewards if catches stuck in the slip. The deterioration of the pitch helped the cause massively for the Australians, with some balls absolutely dying down after pitching in the back of good length area. The second wicket came due to the same reason with a Cameron Green short ball bouncing low and hitting Azhar Ali while he was ducking down. He was adjudged LBW but replays showed that it hit his gloves first and would have been saved if he had opted for the DRS. Pakistan showed intent in the second session of the day, after doing everything they could to survive the first one. A couple of boundaries were hit off the sweep shot, while Shafique’s defence remained resilient as ever, not letting a single ball through it. The pitch has already shown signs of major deterioration, and the third session will prove to be crucial for the game. If Pakistan can remain wicketless in the final session of the day, they would certainly believe that they can save this Test match. On the other hand, Australia might start attacking the stumps from the good length area, and hope that the inconsistent bounce can do the trick in fading light of Day 4. At Tea, Pakistan are at 104/2, still 402 runs behind the target.
