I know their coach relatively well and I don’t think he’ll be shutting up shop: Trent Boult

New Zealand's pace mainstay Trent Boult is expecting a tough fight from England on the final day of the second Test match. After losing the first Test by five wickets, New Zealand have been successful in dominating the second game.

They will take the field on the final day on Tuesday with a massive lead of 238 runs. The Kiwi batters caused carnage on the field in the first innings as they smacked 553 runs. Daryl Mitchell and Tom Bundell emerged as the hero for the visitors with a knock of 190 and 106 runs, respectively.

England were equally fierce with the bat as they scored 539 runs. Former skipper Joe Root led the attack with his superlative knock of 176 runs.

Tom Latham's side witnessed a collapse on day four as they quickly went from 104-1 to 213-7. England now have a chance to make a comeback by picking three wickets early on day five and then chasing the total.

Though a draw is most likely the result for the second game, Trent Boult thinks otherwise. The seamer believes that England's new head coach Brendon McCullum is unlikely to go for a draw. Boult is of the opinion that England will be pumped up to play aggressively and clinch the series by 2-0.

"I know their coach relatively well, and I don't think he'll be shutting up shop. It's exciting to come here in the morning with all of those results on the table and the are boys very excited for it.

There was some hard work done throughout the last couple of days and I think the game is quite nicely poised," Trent Boult said while speaking on stuff.co.nz.

England encountered a similar situation last year as well when New Zealand toured the country for a two-match Test series. Down in the series by 1-0, the host were expected to get 273 runs in the final innings. However, they deployed a defensive approach by going for a draw.

Further, speaking about New Zealand's strategy for the final day at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Trent Boult reckoned that they will try to add as much as they can on the scoreboard. NZ stands at 224 for seven, with Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry in the middle.

"Any runs we get in the morning should make it very interesting. So we'll focus on extending the lead as much as we can and be excited to get the ball in our hands to hopefully bowl for a Test win," Boult opined.
