I can't fall out with someone because they don't pick me in a team: Stuart Broad

Stuart Broad will always be remembered for his potent red-ball bowling and getting smacked for six sixes by Yuvraj Singh. Broad, one of England's most celebrated Test bowlers with 541 scalps in 153 games, made his comeback against New Zealand at Lord's last week.

The pacer was dropped from the side after an inconsistent Ashes series in Australia for the Three Lions tour of the West Indies in February. According to the cricketer, Broad saw his future with England as unsure ahead of the 2022 season at home series, which hosts New Zealand and Indian sides.

"I've changed my mindset over the winter and since Hobart (where England signed off the Ashes with a 146-run defeat to Australia). So it's not looking too far ahead, and it's just enjoying each week for what it is, giving everything, and then resetting for the next week.

Jimmy turns 40 this year. Four years ago, was he thinking 2018 might be his last at Old Trafford? Probably not. That just takes your mind away from enjoying the week. I started this season not knowing if I'd pull on the England shirt again. So I was just enjoying every day for what it was," he stated.

Broad claimed four wickets in the first Test as Ben Stokes' side won by five wickets on Day 4 courtesy of Joe Root's magnificent 115*. Broad picked up three wickets in the second innings, including a team hat-trick that shifted the match's momentum in the hosts' favour.

The second Test of the 3-Test series will be played at Nottinghamshire, Broad's home ground, where he achieved his career-best figures of 8 for 15 against Australia in 2015.

Broad spoked about his return and Test cricket's return to Trent Bridge.

He adds, "It's a ground I always look forward to playing at. But this Test particularly, and what the city has experienced recently with Forest getting promoted. The party atmosphere that started with the play-off semi-final against Sheffield United through the scenes in the Market Square after the final, I get the sense the city will want to come and support the England team and see it continue."

"People say Trent Bridge and Edgbaston are the best Test match atmospheres in the country, and after what was an exciting win at Lord's, it should see people who are heading to Trent Bridge have a lot of excitement about what is to come," he further added.

Broad also explained his relationship with former skipper Root after asking England to move past Broad and Anderson on the Windies tour.

"Joe and I spoke at length when he stood down as captain, and I said to him how much he's meant to me as a captain and what a privilege it was playing under him. I told him I hoped he really enjoys the next few years, and all that pressure has gone now. He's already a legend of the game, so he can just go out there and enjoy it.

But Joe and I are great friends. And I've always been someone who can distinguish between business and pleasure. I can't fall out with someone because they don't pick me in a team. That would be a bit pathetic," the 35-year-old concluded.
