I am absolutely fine and read to go: Mohammed Shami on playing IPL 2021

India and Punjab Kings fast bowler Mohammed Shami has said that he is fit enough to play the upcoming IPL 2021. Shami had injured himself while batting during the Adelaide Test in Australia and has been out of action since then.

“I am absolutely fine and read to go. The injury while batting was unfortunate as I have not had any fitness issues for a long time but this was something I couldn’t do anything about but it is part of the game,” Shami told PTI.

Shami further added that he spent much time at the NCA and has been preparing himself for the IPL. “I was at NCA most of the time. I could have gone back home but because of the current COVID environment, I decided to spend more time at NCA as the facilities are much better and you can follow the COVID protocols.”

The franchise included new recruits in the side after they bought some big players like Dawid Malan, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Moises Henriques and aggressive uncapped batsman Shahrukh Khan during the mini auctions that was held in Chennai in February.

Talking about the death bowling, the right-arm pacer suggested that the team’s death bowling in this edition is better as compared to last year. “Our death bowling seems better compared to last year, so we should do better.”

Punjab Kings will begin their IPL 2021 campaign on April 12 in Mumbai against Rajasthan Royals.
