Home ministry will be involved: Anurag Thakur on India travelling to Pakistan for CT 2025

The debates have already begun on India’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy with the tournament set to take place in Pakistan. But Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur has said that the decision will be taken by the Home Ministry when the time comes.

“When the time comes, we’ll see what to do. The home ministry will be involved in decision making. A lot of countries have pulled out of going to Pakistan due to security issues. We’ll assess the security then and decide,” Thakur was quoted as saying by Times Now.

“Even in past, many countries have refused to play in Pakistan due to security concerns. As you all know, many players were even attacked while playing over there and that’s a big issue to be dealt with,” he added.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) made the hosting rights of events taking place between 2024- 2031 public.

India are set to co-host the T20 World Cup in 2026, Champions Trophy in 2029 and the ODI World Cup in 2031.
