Harshal Patel bagged a five-wicket haul in the opening match of the 14th edition of IPL between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.
He scalped big wickets of Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan in the middle phase of the game and returned in the last over with two back to back wickets of Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard. He was on a hattrick, but was unlucky not to get it. He conceded only one run in the last over and ended up with a surreal bowling figure of 4-0-27-5.
However, he castled the debutant Marco Jansen on the very next ball to claim the first fifer against Mumbai Indians in the 14-year-long history of the IPL.
RCB managed to restrict the star-studded batting line up of Mumbai Indians to a mere 159 at the end of the overs.
At the end of the innings, Harshal said that the ball was reversing during the latter phase of the game and he backed his skills of delivering in the end overs. He said that the pitch was a decent one to bat and not a two-paced wicket as it appeared during the first innings.
Earlier, RCB skipper Virat Kohli won the toss elected to field first.
