Indian women cricket team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur feels that the staging of Women's IPL will be a turning point for the domestic cricketers in the country.

The three-team women's T20 Challenge has been going on in India since 2018. However, it will soon be scrapped in favour of the proposed six-team Women's IPL from 2023.

Players like Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma have featured in overseas leagues such as WBBL and the Women's Hundred. But the domestic cricketers have not had much exposure in the T20 format.

Women's IPL will be a turning point for Indian cricket: Kaur

The 33-year-old thinks most domestic players will get to experience the big stage, with the onset of Women's IPL.

“I think women’s IPL can be a big turning point for us. Our players do get opportunities to play overseas leagues. I feel, domestic players will get a great platform I women’s IPL. We have talented women’s cricketers in the country but many of them don’t have the experience of the big stages. Women’s IPL will be a great platform for them,” Harmanpreet Kaur told India Today.

Kaur thinks losing regular wickets cost them a gold medal in CWG 2022

The Indian women's team bagged a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 after losing to Australia by nine runs. After the culmination of the game, the Indian skipper felt that they let the game slip by losing wickets at consistent intervals.

Kaur added that the players should have looked for singles/doubles instead of attacking every ball. However, she added that the silver medal is still a big achievement for the Indian team.
