Harmanpreet Kaur goes past Mithali Raj to become India's leading run-scorer in T20I's

Harmanpreet Kaur added another feather to her cap as she became India's leading run-scorer in T20I cricket. The 33-year-old batter achieved this feat in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. Harmanpreet climbed above her former teammate, Mithali Raj, to reach the milestone of being India's top run-getter in the shortest format.

Kaur has amassed 2365 runs in T20I cricket at an average of above 25. She has also registered one century and five scores of 50 and above. The veteran batter played a sensible innings to guide her side past the finishing line in the second T20I against Sri Lanka Women. Her unbeaten knock of 31 runs helped India claim an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

Harmanpreet Kaur will undoubtedly go down as one of the greats to have ever played the game. The Indian batter made her T20I debut way back at the 2009 T20I World Cup.

However, little did we know that the 20-year-old batter would have such an illustrious career. On November 10, 2018, Harmanpreet Kaur became the first Indian woman to score a hundred in a T20I fixture. She scored a scintillating knock of 103 runs off just 51 balls in the T20I World Cup opener against New Zealand.

The Indian skipper is the second highest run-getter in the ongoing T20I series between the two Asian sides. India have an opportunity to sweep their neighbours when they meet again in the final T20I on Monday. The fixture will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.
