The swashbuckling batter Chris Gayle will feature for Gujarat Giants in the 2022 edition of Legends League Cricket slated to start on September 16.

Earlier on Friday (2 September), the Giants splurged approximately 5.52 crore for picking 15 players for the forthcoming edition. In this pursuit, they chose Virender Sehwag the leader and tried to strike a strong balance in the team.

The batting unit comprises Lendl Simmons, Kevin O'Brien and Parthiv Patel, while Mitchell McClenaghan, Ajantha Mendis and Graeme Swann will be the core bowlers.

Furthermore, each franchise was given an additional three days to finalize their squad, wherein they had the liberty to secure the services of a Cricket Legend with their remaining amount of 2,48,20,000.

In this regard, the Giants have signed Gayle, who is likely to open with Sehwag and give rise to a threatening left-right hand combination.

Recently, Gayle made his return to competitive cricket in 6ixty and contributed 62 runs at an average of 62, and helped St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to lift the title.

Raman Raheja, CEO and Co-Founder of Legends League Cricket was delighted to welcome the 42-year-old into the tournament.

"After Friday's draft, Gujarat Giants had clearly expressed their desire to buy Chris Gayle with the remaining purse from their individual INR 8 Cr franchise purse. We facilitated the discussion and are glad that Gayle will be seen playing for the Adani Sportsline team," said  Raheja.
