  • Give Me Four Months Ill Make Him Indias Best All Rounder Mohammed Shami On Mohsin Khan

Give me four months, I'll make him India's best all-rounder: Mohammed Shami on Mohsin Khan

India's bowling repository is filled with young talent who are knocking on the doors of the national side and are giving seniors sleepless nights. The recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yash Dayal, and Mohsin Khan kick up a storm with their bowling. Malik and Singh were rewarded by earning their maiden India call-up for the South African series.

One of the talking points across the season was Mohsin's show with the ball; he plays for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise. Picked for just INR 20 Lakh, the UP-born picked 14 wickets in just nine games in IPL 2022.

Speaking to Sports Yaari, Mohsin's coach Badruddin Siddiqui revealed his conversation with his former student and Indian star Mohammed Shami regarding the youngster.

"When the auction was going on, I was sitting with Shami in his farmhouse. He was picked, and so was Mohsin. And then, we were having a conversation about him. Shami told me, 'If you just give me four months with him, I'll make him India's best all-rounder'. He is a very good batsman. And even KL Rahul said earlier that he has a good understanding of the game," Siddiqui said.

Mohsin has just played one First-Class match for UP and was also featured in 17 List-A and 35 T20s for his state side.

The left-arm fast bowler was picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) for IPL 2020 but did not debut.

Shami had an excellent IPL for title-winners Gujarat Titans, claiming 20 wickets in 16 games. Siddiqui was all praise for Shami, who he says is always ready to help out his juniors.

"There can be many bowlers, but you need to have a good understanding. You need to know what ball to use against which batsman. Today, Shami is a big bowler. But he is always ready to help the up and coming youngsters," he added.

WATCH | Shadab Khan's incredible one-handed stunner to dismiss Shamarh Brooks

West Indies batsman Shamarh Brooks was dismissed by a brilliant catch from Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan during the first ODI against at Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. The visitors won the toss in the series opener and chose to bat against the hosts. However, opener Kyle Mayers was dismissed after just three overs by premier pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, inflicting early damage on the Windies. They had to wait a long time for another breakthrough, as Shadab came up with a spectacular catch to dismiss Brooks on 70. When Mohammad Nawaz pitched the ball a tad full in the 31st over of the match, Brook tried to slog it over mid-wicket but only managed to find the top edge. Shadab, who was standing wide of the short third-man area, quickly covered the ground and grabbed a spectacular one-handed catch to end the 154-run partnership. Here's the video: Brooks smashed seven boundaries in his 83-ball 70. Meanwhile, Shai Hope led the West Indies to a solid 305-8 victory over Pakistan's highly touted bowling attack and the scorching Multan heat. Hope hit 15 boundaries and a six in his 127-run innings, which came off 134 balls. Haris Rauf, Pakistan's best bowler with figures of 4-77, ended Hope's innings in the 44th over when he bowled him with a slower delivery. Hope reached the three-figure-mark off 118 balls and got to his 4,000th ODI run in his 93rd match, driving pacer Hasan Ali towards the cover boundary. Moreover, West Indies' total turned out to be insufficient as Babar Azam registered his 17th ODI ton. The hosts won the 1st ODI by a margin of five wickets. After a COVID-19 outbreak in the West Indies squad during the preceding Twenty20 series in Pakistan, the ODI series was postponed last year.
