Two months after being arrested for domestic violence, Michael Slater has now been charged for breaching a restraining order, known as an Apprehended Violence Order.
After the concerned police department was informed of the breach, Slater was immediately arrested at 7:45 am on Wednesday. The former Australian cricketer was due to appear in court today as he was refused bail.
Slater has appeared in court several times this year as he has been charged in the case of domestic violence on his former partner. The 51-year-old was charged with a restraining order due to the case but he breached the restrictions set down in an AVO, using a carriage service “to menace/harass/offend" and breaching bail.
Slater has made the headlines for his controversial statements before as well. In May, he slammed Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison as the latter closed the borders of Australia, forcing Australians to stay in India, where the Covid-19 cases were witnessing a major upsurge.
Before joining in as a full-time commentator, Slater featured in 74 Tests and 42 ODIs. Boasting of a good record in Test arena, he has scored 5,312 runs. The Australian has accumulated 987 runs in ODIs.
