The fallout from Australian men's head coach Justin Langer's resignation continues to hound Cricket Australia (CA) with sacked physiotherapist David Beakley's successful legal action against the governing body.
According to reports published in the Australian media, CA has come to an out-of-court settlement with Beakley. However, the governing body has refused to reveal the details of the settlement, something which Beakley is also in favour of.
Beakley's lawyer Paul Horvath told The Age that he was 'unable to discuss the matter due to legal privilege'. The former Victorian seamer, left his hugely successful seven-year stint as High-Performance Coach at Western Australia in 2019 to join Cricket Australia.
The seasoned campaigner presided over a hugely successful period for Australian cricket that saw the men's team retain Ashes twice besides beating Pakistan away and the maiden T20 World Cup title last year.
Meanwhile, the women's team maintained their stranglehold as they retained the T20 World Cup in 2020 and regained the ODI World Cup trophy earlier this year.
Cricket Australia acknowledged the performances of the teams and the support staff via an official statement.
"There is no formal review underway or planned for our high-performance division," Cricket Australia stated in a release.
"Our approach is continuous improvement as normal practice, demonstrated by arguably the most successful summer in our teams' history."
"The women's team is No.1 in the world and are the dual reigning World Cup champions, while the men are the No.1 ranked Test team on the back of series victories in the Ashes and in Pakistan and are also the reigning T20 World Cup champions," the statement read further.
"Naturally, we are delighted with the results, supported by our high-performance department and the contribution of many across Australian cricket."
Beakley was a hugely popular figure in the Australian dressing room, and his sudden axing before the Pakistan tour didn't go down with players and the support staff.
The physiotherapist was a strong supporter of Langer and had urged CA to hand the Western Australian a two-year contract extension back in February.
However, after a series of meetings, CA offered Langer a mere six-month extension with no chance of retaining the post after the due date.
Langer eventually resigned from the post, which led to a huge wave of support and sympathy from his former teammates like Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee, Ricky Ponting etc.
