The defending Indian Premier League champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, hinted at a major captaincy announcement in their latest post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The three-time champions' recent tweet sparked speculations regarding their potential skipper for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

KKR Keep Fans Puzzled With Mysterious Post

At 11.42 AM today, Kolkata Knight Riders tweeted three stars with an emoji of the calendar, mentioning today's date and 3.33 PM time. The franchise's passionate fans began speculating the potential captaincy candidates, as the defending champions have yet to reveal their leader for the showpiece event.

Considering that KKR mentioned 3.33 PM in their post, it's speculated that they might reveal their skipper for the IPL 2025 at that time in the afternoon. However, there are several candidates for this role, with Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer claiming the spotlight.

Ajinkya Rahane To Lead KKR In IPL 2025?

KKR gave a major hint by using multiple 3s in their viral social media post. It's worth mentioning that Ajinkya Rahane, who joined the franchise for INR 1.5 Crores, uses 3 as his jersey number. So, this could hint at Rahane becoming their IPL 2025 captain, as the experienced batter is hailed for his leadership acumen in the domestic and international circuit.

While KKR's viral post has kept fans guessing, Venkatesh Iyer's whopping price tag of INR 23.75 Crores has made them consider the southpaw as a potential captaincy candidate. Iyer has been a vital member of the KKR setup, having struck 1326 runs at an average of 31.57 and a strike rate of 137.13.

Thus, it's expected that one of these two players might be appointed as KKR's captain, which could be announced at 3.33 PM today, as indicated by the post.
