'Everyone standing in the circle wasn't convinced' - Pant on not using DRS against Tim David

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has recently revealed the reason why DC did not use the DRS against the Mumbai Indians batter Tim David in his team's must-win match at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (May 21).

"I thought there was something (about not reviewing Tim David caught behind). Everyone standing in the circle wasn't convinced, and in the end, I didn't go up," Pant said in the post-match presentation.

With DC's defeat, Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the playoffs, and they will take on Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator on May 25. Notably, RCB have the worst NRR among all the top teams who have qualified for the knockouts, and Delhi's win would have changed the scenario.

While talking about the Capitals' performance in the 2022 season, Pant said, "For most of the game, we were on top. On occasions, we let the game slip away from our grabs when we were on top. That's what we were doing throughout the season. Not good enough to win this match, I guess."

He continued, "It's not about pressure. We could have done better execution and planning. We'll learn from our mistakes and come back stronger next year. We bowled well throughout the tournament, but dew came in towards the end, and we didn't bowl to our plans. It's hard, but we got to take it on our chin and learn from it."

On the other hand, Tim David admitted that it felt nice to end the season on a high note.

David said, "Nice to finish with a win; we got close the other night; good to finish this off. Ishan told me the wicket was getting flatter; it was holding a bit with the slower balls. I got lucky with a couple of sixes; it is all about repetition and holding your shape."

Further in the conversation, the Singaporean shared a light chat that happened with RCB's captain on the morning of DC's game.

"I got a message from Faf this morning - it was a picture of him, Maxi and Virat all in an MI kit; maybe I'll get to post that on Instagram later.

He also opinionated on the DRS saga, "I heard a noise, but I wasn't sure, but when they didn't review, I thought let's crack on, that's how the game is."
