ENG vs IND | 'He has been one of the best players, if not the best player in ODI cricket': Buttler backs Kohli

Kohli did manage to hit a couple of eye-pleasing boundaries but then faltered, edging a wide delivery off David Wiley to Jos Buttler for a 25-ball 16.

Virat Kohli was once again the talk of the town following India's 100- run defeat at the Lord's in the second One-Day International (ODI) against England.

Chasing 247 on a tricky Lord's pitch, the Indian batting order failed to add resistance, with skipper Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant falling for nought. As a result, the visitors were bundled out for 146, handing the hosts a series-levelling win.

Kohli is human: Buttler

However, England's white-ball skipper, Jos Buttler, came out in support of the former Indian captain.

"Yeah, incredibly surprised; as I said, his record speaks for himself.

I suppose in a little way, it's quite refreshing for the rest of us that he (Kohli) is human, and he can have a couple of low scores as well, but look, he has been one of the best players, if not the best player in ODI cricket in the world," Buttler said.

The matches he's won for India, and yeah, why would you question that: Buttler

"But certainly, as an opposition captain, you know a player of that class is always due, so you're hoping that it doesn't come against us. The matches he's won for India, and yeah, why would you question that," Buttler concluded.

Kohli will be expected to score big runs in Manchester on Sunday, with the ODI series on the line.
