Dominic Sibley to feature for Surrey from 2023 season

The top-order batter Dominic Sibley will leave Warwickshire and join Surrey at the end of the 2022 season.

Interestingly, he had become the youngest player to make a double century in the 2013 County Championship while playing for Surrey at the age of 18. This was also his debut domestic season.

In 2017, Sibley had joined the Warwickshire County team for a 3-year-deal.

After performing well for the Bears, Sibley made his international Test debut in 2019. So far, he has amassed 1042 runs at an average of 28.94, with two centuries for England Lions.

However, Warwickshire provided him with an opportunity in the red-ball only, and he last played List A and T20 fixtures in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

In 82 matches across all formats for the Bears, the 26-year-old garnered 4,042 runs with 11 centuries.

The opening batter amassed 470 runs in nine innings of the 2021 season and helped the team to claim the County Championship title.

Sibley reckoned that it was the right time for him to move to Surrey. He thanked Warwickshire County for helping him progress well in his career.

"After five fantastic seasons at Warwickshire, I've decided to return to London and Surrey. After much thought over the last six months, it feels like the right time to make the move,"

"I will be forever grateful and thankful to everybody at the Bears who signed me and helped me achieve so much in my time here. I will always cherish the memories and friendships made on and off the pitch," the player concluded.
