Delhi Capitals’ dynamic skipper Shreyas Iyer after suffering subluxation on his left shoulder is sure to be ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League. Reacting to that grim news, DC Co-owner Parth Jindal hoped that the 26-year-old Mumbaikar would recover soon and ahead of the T20 World Cup scheduled for October this year.
“Absolutely devastated and gutted for our skipper @ShreyasIyer15 - stay strong captain - hope for a very quick recovery. Have full faith that you will come back even stronger from this. India needs you in the T20 World Cup. @DelhiCapitals @BCCI,” Jindal tweeted.
The subluxation can put Iyer out of competitive cricket for at least three months as in most cases it requires surgery to overcome. Iyer got injured while fielding in the second innings during the first ODI between India and England at MCA Stadium Pune.
The unavailability of Iyer would mean that DC, the last season’s finalists would now have to decide upon a new skipper and senior men in Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and Ravichandran Ashwin would be contention for the post.
The BCCI however is yet to make an official statement on the status of Iyer's injury.
