After opting to bat first, India got off to a flier, courtesy of Smriti Mandhana's fireworks with the bat. The stylish southpaw continued her dream run in the tournament, slamming a flamboyant 32-ball 61.
Smriti ensured a dream start for India
Smriti's marvellous knock was studded with eight fours and three sixes as she enthralled the spectators with her gorgeous stroke play.
After Smriti's dismissal, India struggled a bit to score at a brisk pace. However, Jemimah Rodrigues continued fighting till the end, ensuring a fitting finish for her side. The 21-year-old's eye-catching 44-run knock, which included seven glorious boundaries, propelled India to 164 at the end of 20 overs.
Freya Kemp was England's most successful bowler, picking two wickets for 22 runs.
