In a recent development, Cricket Australia Chief Executive, Nick Hockley has revealed that the board has contacted Police after a confidential recording was leaked to the media.
The Sunday Age supposedly received a recording of the phone call between the former CA head of integrity Sean Carroll and a "high-class escort" and reported the conversation on Sunday.
Sent anonymously who claimed to be an ex-CA staff member, the conversation between the two parties is reported to have taken place a few years ago. The topic of discussion was an alleged cocaine use and sexual activities of an unidentified former cricketer.
Confirming the news of the leak, Hockley termed the reports as "unsubstantiated" and informed that they are seeking assistance from Victoria Police regarding the same.
"I saw the article this morning. Those reports are unsubstantiated," Hockley was quoted as saying to the reporters.
"They are historical. Any stealing of confidential information is a crime. We have reported it and are getting assistance from [Victoria] Police. It's really important people are able to contact our integrity line in full confidence that it is going to be kept secure," he added.
Earlier, former Test captain Tim Paine was involved in a similar scandal, in which his inappropriate text messages to a staff member of Cricket Tasmania was leaked to the media.
Paine did not receive any sanctions but decided to take a break from cricket at the personal level. Following this, Aussie pacer Pat Cummins was made the Test captain of the side.
