CPL 2022: Barbados Royals wins five in a row after routing Tallawahs

The match, marking the 14th of the ongoing season, launched with Royals skipper David Miller winning the toss and inviting the Tallawahs to bat first.

The Tallawahs lost in-form opener Brandon King for a duck in the first over of the match. His partner Kennar Lewis soon followed him back to the pavilion, leaving Amir Jangoo and captain Rovman Powell to launch a rescue act to overcome twin early setbacks.

Captain Powell struck a powering 52 while Raymon Reifer delivered the finishing fury as the Tallawahs finished with 156-8. For the Royals, Obed McCoy picked three wickets, all while conceding just 24 off his four economical overs.

After Royals lost high-flying opener Kyle Mayers for just 12, the onus of the run-chase fell onto the subsequent trio of South African imports, Quinton de Kock, Corbin Bosch and skipper Miller.

Bosch, who took a wicket in his sole over of the first innings, hammered a calculated 56 and formed a 117-run second-wicket with de Kock. The latter of the two himself piled up unbeaten 64 runs while his South African teammate Miller finished the proceedings with his 8-ball 17*.
