Covid has made its first strike in The Hundred as Trent Rockets Head coach Andy Flower has tested positive for Covid-19. He along with three other support staff have been removed from the squad and will be absent from the Rockets’ game against Northern Superchargers tonight, July 26 at Trent Bridge.
Along with these three, Rockets player, Steven Mullaney and another support staff member were forced to withdraw from the game after they were identified as close contact. Paul Franks, Assistant to Flower will now step in as Rockets' head coach.
According to the rule of the United Kingdom Government, those testing positive have to spend 10 days in self-isolation and then are reallowed to mingle in the open after negative tests post isolation. Thus Flower and Co. will miss the next two fixtures of the Rockets as well. The men in yellow and black are to lay London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix away from home on July 29 and August 01.
Flower was appointed coach of the Rockets after original choice coach New Zealand’s Stephen Fleming decided not to join The Hundred overCovid-19 concerns.
