CK Nayudu Trophy, LOC for 2023 World Cup on agenda at BCCI Apex Council meeting

As the BCCI Apex Council prepares for a virtual meeting on March 02, 2022, the discussions are likely to revolve around the CK Nayudu Trophy, Women's Senior T20 and the formation of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the upcoming Men's ODI World Cup.

The CK Nayudu Trophy, Women's Senior and Ranji Trophy were simultaneously postponed, citing rising COVID-19 cases. While India's premier red-ball tournament marked its return this month, the resumption of competitions for U-23 and women cricketers are yet to be announced.

PTI has reported that the 14-point agenda pivotally features the plan to resume these two marquee domestic tournaments. Another point of discussion would be the formation of LOC for the 2023 ODI World Cup, scheduled in India.

As Dhiraj Malhotra relinquished the position of General Manager - Game Development, a new appointment on the same position is likely to be decided. With Byju's contract as the Indian cricket team sponsor ending on March 31, 2022, talks may be held on the topic.

There is a five-match T20 series between India and South Africa scheduled in June. The venues for the games are expected to be allotted in the meeting.

The central contracts of men and women cricketers will be sanctioned and a newly-introduced sexual harassment policy of the BCCI will be approved.

An increase in hosting fees for the state cricket associations and the appointment of a Sports Science head at the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore will also be discussed.

IND vs WI | 3rd T20I : Team India complete white-wash against West Indies in T20I series

Team India extended their rich run of form under Rohit Sharma with a whitewash in the T20I series against West Indies on Sunday, following a 3-nil win in the ODI series. The hosts asserted their dominance over the Caribbean side throughout the entirety of this tour, Asked to bat first, India went in with a new opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan. Skipper Rohit Sharma demoted himself down the order in the bid to provide youngsters with a fair chance in their favourable position. Ruturaj fell cheaply for 4 runs, while Ishan's sluggish innings ended at the score of 34. Shreyas Iyer adopted an attacking style of play and seemed in control of the proceedings. However, he threw away his wicket to keep up with the scoring rate and played a handy 25-run cameo. Rohit, who was not batting on his preferred slot, looked out of sorts throughout his innings, which eventually ended on 7 runs. India suddenly found themselves reeling at 93/4 with Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer still batting. Their partnership changed the course of the game as the two cricketers started owning the opposition's bowlers. Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope could not do much as the 'Men in Maroon' lost two wickets for 26 runs, courtesy of Deepak Chahar's early burst. In-form Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell tried to repair the damage through aggressive strokeplay. Powell did nail a few hits but got out at the score of 25. West Indies could not recover from their thereon as Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur and Venkatesh Iyer claimed wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs.
