Cricket Association of Bengal president Avishek Dalmiya has been admitted to a hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
“As a precautionary measure, he was shifted to the Woodlands Hospital where he will receive Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail therapy and is currently in a stable condition,” an official told PTI.
Apart from him, Laxmi Ratan Shukla who is now Under-23 coach of the state team has also tested positive for Covid-19.
“He has high fever and his test report has come positive and has been advised home isolation,” the official said.
Earlier, several Bengal players had also tested positive for the virus ahead of the commencement of the Ranji season.
“Keeping in mind the current pandemic situation, the Cricket Association of Bengal had conducted RT-PCR Tests of all Bengal cricketers as a safety measure,” CAB Secretary Snehasish Ganguly was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
The Ranji trophy is scheduled to begin on January 13, 2022.
