Brendan Taylor banned for three & half years by ICC

Former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor has been slapped with a three and a half years ban from all forms of cricket, the ICC said in a statement.

Taylor has been found guilty of breaching four charges of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and, separately, one charge of the ICC Anti-Doping Code.

Article 2.4.2 – Failing to disclose (without unnecessary delay) the receipt of any gift, payment, hospitality or other benefit that (a) the participant knew or should have known was given to them to procure a breach of the Code or (b) that was made or given in circumstances that could bring the participant or the sport of cricket into disrepute.

Article 2.4.3 - Failing to disclose to the ACU (without unnecessary delay) receipt of gifts/hospitality with a value of US$750 or more regardless of the circumstances in which they were given.

Article 2.4.4 – Failing to disclose to the ACU (without unnecessary delay) full details of the approach received to engage in corrupt conduct under the Code including in relation to Zimbabwe’s then upcoming series against Sri Lanka and/or Bangladesh.

Article 2.4.7 – obstructing or delaying an ACU investigation, including concealing, tampering with or destroying any documentation or other information that may be relevant to that investigation and / or that may be evidence of or may lead to the discovery of evidence of corrupt conduct under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

BBL 2021-22 Final: Who said what on Twitter after Scorchers add another trophy to cabinet

Perth Scorchers were on Friday crowned champions of the BBL 2021-22 after beating Sydney Sixers in the final in Melbourne. Defending a target of 172 runs in 20 over, the Scorchers bundled out Sydney Sixers for 92 runs in the 17th over. The Sixers started off the proceedings in a dismal manner after they lost an early wicket and couldn't really get back on track as they lost wickets at regular intervals to eventually get bowled out. Earlier, the Scorchers too had a disappointing start to the innings as the were left tottering at 25/4 but 104-run stand between Turner and Laurie Evans certainly turned fortunes for them. Both the players scored inidvidual fifties while Evans remained unbeaten at 76 off 41 during the course as Scorchers put 171/6 in 20 overs on the board.

Riding on some exceptional performance from their bowling unit, Perth Scorchers were crowned the BBL 2021-22 champions after they bundled out Sydney Sixers for 92 while chasing 172 in the final in Melbourne. The Sydney side never really looked in control as they lost wickets at regular intervals before getting bowled out. Daniel Hughes was the only pick of the batters for the side after he chipped in with a 33-ball 42 but his dismissal in the 13th over certainly broke the shackles. Andrew Tye returned with figures of 3/15 in 3 overs for Scorchers while Jhye Richardson had a couple of scalps to his name at the cost of 20 runs in 3.2 overs. Earlier in the day, the Perth team too had a struggling start as they were reduced to 25/4 but Ashton turner and Laurie Evans then steadied the ship with a partnership of 104 runs for the fifth wicket. Both the batsmen notched up individual fifties with Evans remaining unbeaten at 76 off 41 to help the side post 171/6 in 20 overs. Nathan Lyon returned with two wickets for 24 runs in 3 overs for Sydney Sixers. "It's always interesting. Copped one on the nose from one of the shoulders (smiles, when asked about the blood from his nose). only played two games. Special mention to all the boys for a job well done," Richardson said after the match.

Batting first, the Scorchers were pushed on the back foot after they lost four early wickets and were reduced to 25/4 with the likes of Mitchell Marsh and Colin Munro also back in the hut. But Ashton Turner and Laurie Evans then took on the onus on themselves and steadied the ship for the side with a partnership of 104 runs for the fifth wicket. The two batters began to rebuild the innings in a cautious manner and did take their chances after getting their eye in. Both the batsmen notched up individual fifties during the course with Turner eventually getting out for 54 off 35. Evans on the other side remained unbeaten at 76 off 41 as Scorchers put up 171/6 in 20 overs on the board. Steve o Keefe picked up two wickets but returned with expensive figures of 2/43 in 4 overs while Nathan Lyon also bagged a couple at the cost of 24 runs in three overs.

England have suffered a blow ahead of the fourth T20I of the series against West Indies after captain Eoin Morgan was ruled out of the remaining two fixtures due to a low-grade quadriceps injury, the ECB said. The left-handed batsman had also missed the third T20I after feeling pain in his right quad in the warm-up. Moeen Ali led the side in his absence. “England men’s captain Eoin Morgan will miss the final two matches of the international Twenty20 series against the West Indies with a low-grade quadriceps injury," the England and Wales Cricket Board announced on Thursday. “Morgan sat out the third T20 in Barbados on Wednesday night after he felt pain in his right quad during the warm-up." “Follow-up testing revealed he sustained a right thigh muscle injury which, whilst relatively minor, will prevent him from playing further games during the current tour." Talking about the series, the Caribbean side is leading 2-1 after they clinched a win in the high-scoring game in Barbados. West Indies rode on a century from Rovman Powell and a quick-fire 70 off 43 from Pooran to post 224/5 in 20 overs and then restricted the England side for 204/9 to win the match by 20 runs.
