Zimbabwe Cricket on Tuesday (23 August) announced the 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia. The series is slated to take place from 28 August to 3 September in Tony Ireland Stadium, Townsville.

The talented pacer Blessing Muzarabani has returned to the team after recovering from a thigh muscle tear. He is the only addition to the talented squad, which recently faced India in the 50-over format.

Regis Chakabva has been retained as the leader of Zimbabwe amid the absence of the regular skipper Craig Ervine, who is unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

This series will be a part of the World Cup Super League, with the top seven teams and hosts India will qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Currently, Australia are in the eighth position, while Zimbabwe sits at the 12th spot.

Zimbabwe's first tour of Australia since 2004

It will be a historical series between both nations, as they square up against each other Down Under for the first time since 2004.

Back then, the Australian team secured a whitewash in the three-match ODI series. Michael Clarke and Jason Gillespie were the top performers of the series.
