Ben Stokes condemns racist remarks during the England vs India Test at Edgbaston

England Test Captain Ben Stokes criticized the racial abuse during the rescheduled fifth Test match between England and India at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

Several Indian spectators alleged racial abuse from other English fans on the sidelines of the rescheduled fifth Test. England won by seven wickets to level the series 2-2. The victims took to Twitter to report the racist behaviour they suffered from other fans on Monday night.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Warwickshire County Cricket Club launched an investigation into the incident on the fourth day of the rescheduled Edgbaston Test.

Stokes used social media to express his views on the unwanted incident. He condemned it by saying that he was disappointed to learn about the racial abuse incident and that there's no room for such things in the game.

The elite English all-rounder appealed to all the fans attending the white ball series between England and India to create a party-like atmosphere as he believes that's what the game is all about.

"Amazing week on the pitch but really disappointed to hear reports of racist abuse at Edgbaston. Absolutely no place for it in the game. Hope all the fans at the white-ball series have a brilliant time and create a party atmosphere. That's what cricket's about!!," Ben Stokes wrote on his Twitter handle.

England won that rescheduled fifth Test against India after chasing down a mammoth 378 on the final day to square the series.

The second T20I between England and India of the ongoing T20Is series is set to be played at Edgbaston on Saturday and will be monitored by undercover crowd-style spotters after the Warwickshire County Cricket Club on Thursday (July 7) unveiled a series of new measures to combat such instances of racist abuse.
