Ben Sanderson, whose Northamptonshire-stint was due to end this year, was offered a contract by Leicestershire. However, he rejected that and chose to remain associated with his current club until at least the end of the 2025 season.

The 33-year-old pacer expressed his happiness at being retained by the Wantage road-based cricket club.

"I'm delighted to be staying at Northamptonshire for a few more years. It feels like we're building something really special at the club at the minute, and I'm keen to be a part of it," Sanderson said.

Chris Liddle welcomes Sanderson gleefully

Northamptonshire's bowling coach Chris Liddle welcomed Sanderson and addressed him as a 'vital part' of the team's set-up. Liddle also hailed Sanderson for his valuable insights and expected him to help the club reach new heights in the upcoming seasons.

"It's great that Ben has extended his stay with us, he's been a vital part of our team for a number of years now, and it's great that we get to see more of him leading our attack," Liddle said.

"He's a leader in the changing room and crucial for our team across all formats. I'm looking forward to seeing more success come Sando's way and helping the team carry on our progression and winning more matches in the future."

Notably, Sanderson has been an integral part of Northamptonshire across formats since joining the club in 2011. Statistically, the right-arm pacer has picked 422 wickets for the club, helping them script many memorable victories. In addition, he has enjoyed decent success in the County Championship and T20 Blast this year, grabbing 30 and 16 wickets, respectively.
