In a significant development, experienced Australian speedster Andrew Tye has joined Northamptonshire for the T20 Blast 2023.
Regarded as a T20 specialist, Tye becomes the second player after Chris Lynn to join the Steelbacks camp for the lucrative tournament.
In his reaction, Tye expressed his excitement at joining the club and seemed determined to help them reach new heights in the tournament.
"Iโm very excited to be joining Northamptonshire for the Blast. Theyโre a good team thatโs had success in the competition in the past so Iโll be hoping that we can recreate that success this year."
Meanwhile, Northamptonshire head coach John Sadler heaped praise on the ace seamer for his calibre and experience. He also explained how Tye could be an asset for them in the mega event.
"To get AJ on board is really pleasing, heโs an amazing addition and gives our team a great balance. His experience and skill set is exactly what we needed and he knows whatโs required to win games and win competitions too. Heโll be a super asset for us this season."
Tye recently had a brilliant BBL 12 campaign, scalping 26 wickets at a brilliant strike rate of 14.3. Considering his recent form and experience, we expect the 36-year-old to emerge as a trump card for the Northants in the T20 Blast this season.
