BBL 2021-22: Rashid Khan's six-fer rattles Brisbane Heat

Adelaide Strikers’ Rashid Khan ripped through the Brisbane Heat batting unit after he returned with six wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. The Brisbane side were handed a target of 162 runs in 20 overs but they had a dismal start to the proceedings after losing a couple of early wickets and were reduced to 17/2 in the third over.

Ben Duckett and Lachlan Pfeffer then tried to steady the ship for the team as the two stitched a partnership of 45 runs for the third wicket but Pfeffer’s run out for 23 off 24 certainly broke the shackles and the Heat lost wickets in quick succession. They were left tottering at 73/7 before getting bowled out for 90 to lose the match by 71 runs.

Earlier, the Adelaide Strikers put up a decent total of 161/4 in 20 overs. Short and Henry Hunt scored 32 runs for the first wicket before Short departed for 27 off 19. Later, Hunt was joined by Weatherald and the two batsmen put up a stand of 53 runs. Weatherald eventually top-scored with 35 off 31.

Rashid later talked about his bowling and how the track had assisted him in Brisbane.

“When I bowled my first few balls, I thought this is a wicket where I can bowl well if I bowl in the right areas. I never thought about taking six wickets, 2-3 were already on my mind, but it was a total team effort. Tried my best to bowl in the right areas. A dream last match to play, I am so happy to contribute. I got Man of the Match after a long time. Feeling happy to finish the season with a win and with wickets as well,” he said after the match.
