BAN vs SL | Mosaddek Hossain included in Bangladesh squad for first Test

Bangladeshi all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain has been named in the Bangladesh squad ahead of their Test series with Sri Lanka.

Nayeem Hasan had replaced injured Mehidy Hasan earlier but the decision to include Hossain in the Test squad was to add more depth to the batting order.

Although the all-rounder is not a regular in the red-ball format for Bangladesh, but he has been named in the squad for the first Test match against Sri Lanka on May 15.

Former Bangladesh captain and member of the selection panel Habibul Bashar believes that Mosaddek is someone who can bat down the order and add value to the batting lineup.

“We have included him because we feel if we play four bowlers, we might need someone who can bat down the order”, Habibul Bashar quoted by Cricbuzz.

The 26-year old has played a total of 3 Test matches for Bangladesh. He displayed a spectacular performance in the Dhaka Premier League and thus gained attention. He scored 658 runs and picked up 16 wickets in a total of 15 matches in the local premier league.

He was set to play in the National Cricket League of Bangladesh, which is a local first-class tournament. But was injured after playing just two games.

Sri Lanka are scheduled to arrive on May 8 for the commencement of the two-match Test series, which is a part of the 2022-2023 World Test Championship.
