Sri Lanka veteran Angelo Mathews now has an undesirable record to his name as he became the latest batter to make an appearance in the '199' club.
As Sri Lanka aimed to ride on the hard work of Day 1 in the Chattogram Test, they could not capitalise and kept on losing wickets, with the Bangladeshi bowlers marching towards a stunning comeback.
Nayeem Hasan paired with Shakib Al Hasan to do the bulk of the damage, bundling the visitors at 397 runs.
Yesterday's centurion Angelo Mathews was inching closer to the 200-run mark. But, unfortunately, he holed out at the square leg region off Nayeem's delivery while batting on 199 runs.
With this, Mathews has entered into a list that now includes as many as 14 cricketing icons. The 34-year-old became the 14th batter to score exactly 199 runs in an innings and now finds his name alongside 13 other greats, including KL Rahul, Kumar Sangakkara, Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis, and many more.
Players who have scored 199 in an innings:
Mudassar Nazar (Pakistan) vs India, 1984
Mohammad Azharuddin (India) vs Sri Lanka, 1986
Matthew Elliott (Australia) vs England, 1997
Sanath Jayasuiriya (Sri Lanka) vs India, 1997

In reply to Sri Lanka's first innings total, Bangladesh, by the end of the second day's play, scored 76 runs for the loss of no wicket. Openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten at 31 and 35 runs, respectively.
