BAN vs SL 2022 | Kamil Mishara called back home after Code of Conduct breach

The Sri Lankan board made some tough calls last night as they have decided to recall opening batter Kamil Mishara from the tour of Bangladesh due to his alleged breach of Sri Lanka Cricket’s Code of Conduct.

“Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided to recall Kamil Mishara from Bangladesh for his alleged breach of rules governing the player’s conduct/behaviour as depicted in his Tour Contract,” said the official statement.

It further read, “Accordingly, Mishara, who is a part of the 18-member squad taking part in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Series will be immediately flown back to Sri Lanka,”

“Upon his return, Sri Lanka Cricket will conduct a full inquiry into the ‘violations’ and upon the outcome of the inquiry, further actions would be determined on the player.”

It seems like the player breached the bio bubble norms and risked the entire team by inviting a guest to his hotel room, the breach was reported by the Bangladesh authorities and Sri Lanka are set to take disciplinary actions when the player returns home.

Being part of the Test squad, Mishara wasn’t included in the playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh and was again omitted from the XI for the second Test before being called back home.

While the first Test was a draw between the two teams, Bangladesh seems to have the upper hand at the end of the 2nd day of the second and ongoing Test match.
