This afternoon, Peshawar Zalmi will kickstart their PSL 2025 journey by taking on Quetta Gladiators in the second group-stage affair of the season. The high-voltage clash will take place at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Will Babar Azam Play Today?

Peshawar Zalmi suffered a huge setback ahead of the PSL 2025 season, with their captain and premier batter Babar Azam sustaining a knee injury during one of the training sessions. As per some clips doing the rounds on social media, Babar developed an injury on his right knee while fine-tuning his game ahead of the PSL 2025.

So, there was some uncertainty looming over his participation in the mega event. However, yesterday, another video footage went viral, showing Babar's intense batting session in the Peshawar Zalmi nets.

In the clip, Babar could be seen hitting gorgeous lofted shots as he worked on his power-hitting ahead of the showpiece event.

Therefore, Babar Azam seems to have recovered from the injury scare, and he will likely play Peshawar Zalmi's inaugural game against Quetta Gladiators.

Babar Azam's PSL Career And Stats

Renowned for his scintillating stroke-play, Babar Azam has been the most valuable asset for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. He had a terrific tournament last year, amassing 569 runs at a superb average of 56.9 and a strike rate of 142.61.

He will likely open the batting with Saim Ayub, who recently recovered from a career-threatening ankle injury. Apart from these two players, the likes of Luke Wood, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Haris and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are expected to play vital roles for the Zalmi this season.
