The race to be the best in the Asian cricket will begin from the 27th of August, 2022. UAE is hosting the 15th edition of the tournament.  This time the tournament will be of the T20 format, the second time in its history. 

A T20 tournament that too in Asia, plenty of runs is what the spectators will be expecting. But it has not been rewarding for batters always. In this listicle we take a look at the batters who have scored most ducks in the history of this tournament.


Mahela Jayawardena (Sri Lanka) - 3

A record of which one of the greatest batters of Sri Lankan cricket would never be proud of. But in a span of 10 years he scored 3 ducks in the tournament. 

  • Jayawardena's first duck came against Pakistan at Dhaka in 2000.  Batting at number 7 in a chase of 278 runs, he was dismissed for 0 off 2, courtesy Shahid Afridi.
  • His second duck in the tournament came against India in 2004. In this case he was batting up the order at number 5 and was dismissed on 0 off 6. His catch was taken by Yuvraj Singh of Sachin Tendulkar's bowling. 
  • Jayawardena' s third duck of the tournament came in 2014 against Bangladesh at Mirpur. Once again he was unlucky to be dismissed run out by the duo of Mahmudullah and Rubel Hossain. 


Salman Butt (Pakistan) - 3

The former Pakistani skipper and opener also has three ducks to his name in Asia Cup. 

  • Butt's first duck was in the Asia Cup of 2008 at Karachi against Hong Kong. He was caught behind on the third ball of his inning of Afzaal Haider's bowling.
  • In the same edition of the Asia Cup, Salman Butt scored his second duck against Sri Lanka. In this case it was a golden duck as he was bowled of the first ball by Chaminda Vaas.
  • In the very against next edition of the tournament, Butt got a duck for the third time in Asia Cup. This time it was against Sri Lanka at Dambulla. He was bowled of the third ball of his stay by Lasith Malinga.


Aminul Islam (Bangladesh) - 3

Aminul Islam was a middle-order batter and off-break bowler for Bangladesh. He also has three ducks to his name in Asia Cup.

  • Aminul's first duck came in the third edition of the tournament. Batting at number 7 he was bowled by Abdul Qadir for 0 off 2.
  • In 1995 he was bowled for a golden duck by Janak Gamage at Sharjah. Aminul was batting at number 4 for his team in this instance.
  • In 2000 Aminul was leading Bangladesh. In the match against Pakistan at Dhaka he was run out by Shahid Afridi and Moin Khan for 0 off 3.
