Arjun Tendulkar named Mumbai’s senior squad for the first time

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has been named in the Mumbai senior team’s squad for the first time. This happened as two additional members were added to the 20 member squad selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

“Earlier the BCCI had asked to select 20 players. But later they said that 22 players can be selected in the squad, accordingly the two players were added to the squad,” an MCA official stated.

Arjun had previously been part of Mumbai’s age-group teams and has also bowled in the nets for the Indian national team when the team was in England. The 21-year-old has also been a part of India’s U-19 team at one point in time.

The Mumbai squad would be led by Suryakumar Yadav and would play all its matches at home turf. In the group, they will face a tough opponent in the form of Delhi. Haryana, Kerala, Andhra, and Puducherry are the other teams in the group. They play their matches on January 11, 13, 15, 17 & 19.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy begins on 10th January and will mark the start of the covid-marred Indian cricket’s domestic season.
