APL 2022 | VZW vs CSR | Ashish's three-for, Srinivas' theatrics win the battle for Coastal Riders

As rain gods finally showed mercy, it was the time for some cricketing action with Vizag Warriors (VZG) and Coastal Riders (CSR) meeting in a closely-fought battle.

While the rain did spoil a part of the fun, eventually turning the fixture into a nine-over-a-side affair, Coastal Riders walked back after the contest as the happy side, winning the match by five wickets.

After all the anticipation, CSR opted to bowl after winning the toss. As the case has been in the tournament so far, more games have been won by the chasing team.

With only nine overs to play, the Warriors chose to go all guns blazing from the start. Although Uppara Girinath did not face much of the deliveries, the other opener and skipper of the side, Ashwin Hebbar, went for the gusto from ball one.

As much as Hebbar's bodacious strokeplay gave the innings an initial kick, the other batters failed to cash in on the momentum. A break in tempo was caused by Siraparapu Ashish, who claimed a three-for in his two-over spell.

Chennu Siddhardha struck an unbeaten seven-ball 18 as his quickfire innings landed the Warriors to a total of 80 runs in the allotted nine overs.

In reply, CSR did not get the best of the starts, losing four of their top-order batters at a score of 24.

While it seemed all but over, Sirla Hima Srinivas and Maddila Harsha Vardhan led a rearguard fightback to lay a stunning onslaught on the opposition bowlers. Srinivas departed after scoring a 19-ball 38, with still 12 runs needed to win the match.

However, Vardhan and Shaik Zaheer Abbas ensured no further hiccups as the Riders chased down the target with five wickets and two balls to spare.

Brief scores:

Vizag Warriors - 80/8 (9)

Ashwin Hebbar 28(14), Chennu Siddhardha 18*(7);

Siraparapu Ashish 3-12 (2), Tripurana Vijay 1-9 (2)

Coastal Riders - 81/5 (8.4)

Sirla Hima Srinivas 38(19), Maddila Harsha Vardhan 16*(11);

Midde Anjaneyulu 1-7 (2), K S Narasimha Raju 1-12 (1.4)

Coastal Riders won by five wickets.

TNPL 2022 | CSG vs LKK | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

In another blockbuster clash of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2022, we'll see Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) taking the challenge against Lyca Kovai Kings (LKK). The match will be played at SNR College Cricket Ground on Tuesday, July 12. Since the start of the TNPL 2022, the defending champions, CSG, have looked like a pale shadow of themselves, having won the title thrice. They embarked on their tournament campaign with two consecutive defeats but made a strong comeback in their third fixture, swatting aside Ruby Trichy Warriors (RTW) by 44 runs. Riding on the batting brilliance of S Radhakrishnan (49-ball 81) and U Sasidev (35-ball 65), the Super Gillies posted a target of 204 runs on the board. In reply, the Ruby Trichy Warriors could manage only 159 runs. Speaking of the Lyca Kovai Kings (LKK), the team has finally got their campaign back on track, winning their last two fixtures on the trot. Overall, they have featured in four games, out of which they have won two. Having fetched 4 points with a decent NRR of +0.622, the Shahrukh Khan-led side is well placed at the third position in the TNPL standings. In their most recent encounter, they annihilated RTW by five wickets after hunting down the target of 135 runs in just 17 overs. Abhishek Tanwar and skipper Shahrukh Khan lead the bowling chart of the tournament with the most wickets to their name. While Tanwar has scalped eight wickets in three innings, including two three-wicket hauls, Shahrukh Khan too, claimed eight wickets in 4 innings. Although the three-time champions registered a confidence-boosting victory in the previous fixture, they will be wary of Shahrukh Khan and Co. in what promises to be a cracking game of cricket in Coimbatore. Match Details Match: Chepauk Super Gillies vs Lyca Kovai Kings, Match 17 Venue: SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore Date & Time: July 12 at 7:15 PM IST & Local Time Live Streaming: Voot App and Star Sports Network Pitch Report: The pitch at SNR College Cricket Ground is on the slower side, with the bowlers playing a more significant role in the game. Until now, two matches have been played at the venue and both resulted in low-scoring affairs, depicting the slowness of the wicket.
