Amy Jones proud of her team’s victory against India despite missing big players

England Women showed a lot of character in the first T20 International against India as they cruised to a nine-wicket win.

In the absence of both the captain and vice-captain, wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones was handed the responsibility of leading the side. The stand-in skipper was all praises for her team as she hailed the players for not losing their composure and giving their best.

In the post-match performance, Jones added,

"As a group, all we said was go out and bring the energy. If you look around at the team we've got, it's young and excitable and lots of fearless cricketers and we play at our best when we're enjoying it, and everyone is supporting each other and that's exactly what the atmosphere was. When we're relaxed, we play our best.

"With three key players not here, it would have been easy for us to let that affect us and not play how we want to play. To come out and play so freely and confidently with a relatively inexperienced side is brilliant to see. I'm proud."

Meanwhile, the captain also hailed the standout performers of the match. A lot of credit for the same goes to the spinner Sarah Glenn as she delivered her career-best bowling figures.

Glenn accounted for four wickets, including Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Dayalan Hemalatha, and Harmanpreet Kaur. Speaking about the spinner, Jones exclaimed Glenn has been the real container for the team in the recent past.
