The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) managed to procure United Arab Emirates (UAE) visas for the players who were to travel to the country for the ODI series against Ireland. The development must have brought relief to the ACB as Cricket Ireland was not ready to move the series to Oman due to the visa issues between ACB and the UAE authorities.
As per a Cricbuzz report, ACB received the visas at 10 AM in the evening on Monday, but not before the board had booked the tickets to Oman. The Ireland team has already arrived in the UAE, and Afghanistan will travel to the country for the series.
"As part of the ICC ODI league matches, the series between both teams was initially scheduled to be hosted at UAE. However, due to visa restrictions by the UAE in the wake of COVID-19, ACB planned to have Oman as the alternate venue. Fortunately, the UAE Authorities granted visas to Afghan players and relevant officials later last night and the decision was taken to reschedule the series in UAE," the ACB said in its release.
The ODI series will be three-matches long and it will begin on January 18, while the last match of the series will be played on January 23 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
