Former Australia cricketer Stuart Law has been appointed as the interim head coach of the Afghanistan men's national cricket team for their upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh. Stuart Law replaces Lance Klusener, who quit the position in September last year.
"Former Australian middle-order batter Stuart Grant Law has been named as the interim head coach of the national men's cricket team for the Bangladesh Series," Afghanistan Cricket Board released a statement on Stuart's appointment.
Stuart's resume is already filled with many coaching jobs. He served as the interim head coach of Sri Lanka in 2011 World Cup before moving to the Bangladesh setup as the team played their first Asia Cup final under his team. He then indulged in the domestic arena and later joined as the West Indies' head coach from 2017-19.
"He has already reached Bangladesh and will step up into the role of interim head coach ahead of the upcoming ODI and T20I series against side," the statement further read.
Stuart will be filling the head coach's role on an interim basis and ACB is still searching for a full-time replacement for Klusener.
In his playing career, Law featured in 54 ODIs and scored 1237 runs. He did not taste success for Australia in Test cricket and played only a single match in the format.
Meanwhile, the Afghanistan cricket team is undergoing a preparation and conditioning camp in Bangladesh. The two nations will lock horns in three ODIs and two T20Is, starting from February 23 and March 3 respectively.
