15 years in my favourite jersey: Rohit Sharma pens down heartfelt message

Rohit Sharma's rise to the top has not been a straightforward journey by any means. But, the batter has patiently negotiated through all the setbacks in the early part of his career. As a result, Sharma has become a mainstay in the Indian side over the past decade. On June 23, the 'Hitman' completes 15 years of International Cricket. 

On this day, 15 years ago, a 20-year-old Rohit Sharma made his International debut against Ireland in an ODI encounter in Belfast. The Indian skipper penned a heartfelt message that touches upon his incredible journey so far. 

"15 years in my favourite jersey. Hello everyone. Today I'll be completing 15 years of international cricket since I made my debut for India. What a journey it has been, surely one that I'll cherish for the rest of my life," Rohit Sharma wrote on social media.

Rohit Sharma also expressed his gratitude to all the fans and people who have played a part in helping him reach the pinnacle of the sport. 

"I just want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey and a special thanks for the people who helped me become the player that I am today," Rohit continued.

"To all the cricket lovers, fans and critics, your love and support for the team are what gets us over those hurdles we all inevitably come across. Thanking you, RS," the 35-year-old batter wrote.

Rohit Sharma has achieved plenty of success in his career so far, both on an individual and team level. He has participated in two ICC-winning campaigns, with the T20 World Cup triumph in 2007 and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

Rohit Sharma is preparing himself for the all-important English tour, which kicks off with the postponed fifth and Final Test on July 1, 2022. This tour will mark Rohit's first overseas assignment as a full-time Indian skipper.
