India took a thrashing against England in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval.

England won the toss in the match and invited India to bat first. The Indian batting line up looked rusty through out the innings. Virat Kohli played the role of an anchor and scored 50 runs off 40 balls , and with the help of Hardik Pandya's fiery 63 off 33 balls  India managed to reach 168 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Half way through the match, it looked like India had a fighting total on the board. But the opening pair of England in Jos Buttler and Alex Hales took the momentum away from England in the powerplay overs itself. They scored 63 runs in the first 6 overs and India never got to comeback in the match.

England won the match without losing a match and 4 overs still remaining. They will now play Pakistan in the finals at MCG on 13th November, 2022.

India's report card

KL Rahul- 1/10

Innings: 6 Runs: 128 Avg: 21.33 SR: 120.75

KL Rahul scored 2 half centuries in the tournament against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in matches where there was no pressure on the team. He failed to deliver for the team when they required him the most.

Rohit Sharma- 0.5/10

Innings: 6 Runs: 116 Avg: 19.33 SR: 106.42

Rohit Sharma scored just one fifty in the tournament and barring that single match he failed to deliver in the tournament. Also, as a leader of the team Rohit Sharma failed to come up with the goods when needed.

Virat Kohli- 8.5/10

Innings: 6 Runs: 296 Avg: 98.66 SR: 136.40

Virat Kohli has been the most consistent batter in the whole tournament. He delivered for the team whenever they needed him. Even in the semi-finals when India required someone to hold one end, it was Kohli who delivered.

Suryakumar Yadav- 7/10

Innings: 6 Runs: 239 Avg: 59.75 SR: 189.68

Suryakumar Yadav acted as the X-Factor in the Indian batting line up in the tournament. He batted with a near 200 strike rate and helped India accelerate in the end in most of the matches. However, his failure to deliver in the semi finals gives him some negative rating points.

Hardik Pandya- 7/10

Innings: 5 Runs: 128 Avg: 25.60 SR: 131.95

Overs: 18 Runs Conceded: 146 Economy: 8.11 Wickets: 8 Avg: 18.25

Hardik Pandya did a good job with the ball throughout the tournament and with the bat he delivered in the two most pressure matches against Pakistan and in the semi-finals.

Rishabh Pant- 2/10

Innings: 2 Runs: 9 Avg: 4.50 SR: 100.00

Rishabh Pant did not get enough chances to bat in the tournament.

Dinesh Karthik-0.5/10

Innings: 3 Runs: 14 Avg: 4.66 SR: 63.63

Dinesh Karthik was drafted in as the finisher for India in the tournament. He failed to deliver whenever the team needed some strong finishes from him.

Ravichandran Ashwin- 4/10

Innings: 4 Runs: 21 Avg: 21.00 SR: 116.66

Overs: 19 Runs Conceded: 155 Economy: 8.15 Wickets: 6 Avg: 25.83

Ravichandran Ashwin showed good presence of mind with the bat in hand. But in his main trade, that is bowling Ashwin failed to deliver as per expectations.

Axar Patel- 0.5/10

Overs: 13.2 Runs Conceded: 115 Economy: 8.62 Wickets: 3 Avg: 38.33

Axar Patel looked out of sorts for a big tournament like the World Cups. He never looked the part to play or adjust his performances according the pitches and the situations of the match.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 3/10

Overs: 18.4 Runs Conceded: 115 Economy: 6.16 Wickets: 4 Avg: 28.75

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was economical throughout the tournament, but he failed to deliver the early breakthroughs frequently enough for the liking of the team.

Mohammed Shami- 5/10

Overs: 20.0 Runs Conceded: 143 Economy: 7.15 Wickets: 6 Avg: 23.83

Mohammed Shami's performance in the tournament was average with the ball, particularly when you are pitched as one of the mainstays of the bowling line up.

Arshdeep Singh- 7.5/10

Overs: 20.0 Runs Conceded: 156 Economy: 7.80 Wickets: 10 Avg: 15.60

Arshdeep Singh was the biggest positive in India's bowling department in the tournament. He looked a complete bowler doing his job in all the stages of a match.
