The Big Bash League 12 is approaching its opening clash. All the teams have locked in their squads for the season.

The 12th season will see 8 teams compete for a period of nearly two months across 61 matches to lift the title. The opening match will be taking place on the 13th of December, 2022, while the finals will be played on 4th February 2022.

In this article we will take an analytical dive into the squad of the Adelaide Strikers for BBL 12. They will be playing their opening match against Sydney Sixers on the 14th of December, 2022. First of all let us take a look at the full squad of the Strikers.

Wes Agar, Cameron Boyce, Alex Carey, Harry Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Ryan Gibson, Travis Head, Adam Hose, Henry Hunt, Thomas Kelly, Rashid Khan, Chris Lynn, Harry Nielsen, Matt Short, Jake Weatherald, Henry Thornton, Peter Siddle, Ben Manenti.

Strength of Adelaide Strikers

  • Adelaide Strikers have pretty decent top order batting line up. Alex Carrey and Matt Short has done the job for them in the opening spot in the last season and most probably the franchise will stick with the pair for this season.
  • The team has a good amalgamation of utility players like Rashid Khan and Thomas Kelly. These players can keep valuable contributions with both the bat and the ball.
  • Peter Siddle could be a big boost to their bowling line up if he can hold on to his form of the last season.

Weakness of Adelaide Strikers

  • Adelaide Strikers lack a bit of pure hitting power in the middle and lower middle order. While they have some grafters there, during the length of the tournament the Strikers might miss a batter who can provide them with explosive finishes. The most probable course of action for the franchise might be grooming someone for the role.

Opportunity of Adelaide Strikers

  • Adelaide Strikers has been made it to the finals of the tournament once in the 2017-18 season. They won the title that year, but barring that they have not reached the finals otherwise. hence this year will be opportunity for them to run upto the summit clash and lift the trophy if possible.
  • This edition of the BBL will be an opportunity for batters like Ryan Gibson, Adam Hose and Jake Weatherald to portray themselves as a powerful strikers if and when they get a chance to display their talents.

Threat for the Strikers

  • One of their mainstays of batting, Travis Head will not be a part of the journey for the majority of the tournament. He might feature if the team makes it to the business end and a main player having to change his mode of play from Tests to T20s could prove to be a threat for the team.
