Navjot Singh Sidhu believes Rinku Singh can fill the void left by MS Dhoni in the Indian cricket team. The former Indian player made the big claim after Rinku was excluded from India’s primary squad for the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA.

The KKR star, alongside Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan were included among the four travelling reserves instead.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled India’s 15-player squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 on April 30. Much to everybody’s surprise, rising star and KKR cult hero Rinku Singh was not included in India’s primary squad as he was picked as one of the four travelling reserves for the tournament.

The decision prompted several Indian cricket fans to express their displeasure on social media, as the trend ‘Justice for Rinku Singh’ soon went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

Former Indian cricketer and active commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu also joined the bandwagon by expressing his support for Rinku Singh. Moreover, he claimed that the youngster has the potential to even fill MS Dhoni’s void in the national team.

Rinku Singh, meanwhile, is currently plying his trade for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Known for his hard-hitting abilities in the death overs, the 26-year-old has bashed 123 runs in eight innings this season at a strike-rate of 150.

As of now, he is slated to turn up for the KKR group at the Wankhede Stadium to face Mumbai Indians. The much-awaited contest will be played on May 3.
