Former Indian star off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his desire to coach the Indian national cricket team, emphasizing his readiness to give back to the sport that has given him an illustrious career.

Harbhajan, who took 417 wickets in 103 Tests, meets the BCCI's criteria for the head coach position.

Ready To Coach Team India

Harbhajan Singh, one of India's most successful bowlers, has revealed his interest in the coaching role.

He stated, “Coaching India is about man management, not about teaching players how to drive and pull. They know it very well. You can give some guidance to them. Cricket has given me so much, and if I get a chance to give it back, I would be more than happy.”

The BCCI has recently invited applications for the men's national team head coach position. The new coach's tenure will start on July 1, 2024, and end on December 31, 2027, covering the next 50-over World Cup.

Candidates must have played a minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODIs, or have equivalent coaching experience.

Contenders For The Position

Current coach Rahul Dravid's term is set to end after the T20 World Cup 2024 , prompting the BCCI to search for his successor. Reports suggest that MS Dhoni might be involved in convincing CSK coach Stephen Fleming to take up the job.

Additionally, Gautam Gambhir, who has excelled as the mentor of KKR, is also considered a potential candidate.

Applications for the head coach position must be submitted by May 27, 6 PM. The new coach will lead India into the T20 World Cup 2024, with matches against Ireland, Pakistan, USA, and Canada scheduled in June.
