Ahead of Pakistan's visit to India for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, a lot of people were hesitant over how Indian fans would receive the arrival of arch-rivals given the geo-political tension between the two nations.

On Wednesday, however, all detractors were in for a massive surprise when crowds gathered in flocks to see and welcome Babar Azam and Co. at Hyderabad.

Despite the tight security arrangement at the airport, fans cheered and hooted players' names and gave a thunderous welcome to the Pakistan contingent.

Pakistan's wicketkeeper batter Mohammed Rizwan, who forms the backbone of ODI batting, was elated with the reception and posted a heartfelt message on various social media platforms.

Rizwan, 31, lauded fans for the amazing welcome and looked forward to spending time in India for the next 45 days.

Interestingly, apart from Mohammad Nawaz and Salman Ali, no other member of Pakistan's 15-man squad have visited India before. Skipper Babar Azam and pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi also expressed their joy over the response from Indian fans.

Pakistan before starting their World Cup 2023 campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 at Hyderabad, will take on New Zealand (today) and Australia (October 3) in their warm-up encounters.

Apart from Hyderabad, Pakistan also have matches in Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. The high-profile India-Pakistan clash will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14.
