Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the Indian squad after the second Test against England earlier in February.

While initial reports indicated that the cricketer was left out due to a stiff back and groin pain, another report suggested that the 29-year-old was excluded owing to his poor form in Test cricket off late.

After turning up for Team India in the first two Tests of the five-match series against England, the right-hander managed to tally just 104 runs across all four innings at a substandard average of 26.

As it turns out, Shreyas Iyer may well have landed in another trouble with the national selectors, considering the NCA Head of Sports Science and Medicine Nitin Patel recently sent out a startling mail to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) regarding the cricketer's fitness and availability.

Here at OneCricket, we take a look at the entire timeline of Shreyas Iyer's entire injury and form saga that has unfolded since the conclusion of the second India vs England Test at Vizag.

What happened to Shreyas Iyer after IND vs ENG 2nd Test?

After lacklustre returns from South Africa Tests and another set of uninspiring performances in home Tests against England, Iyer was ruled out of the Indian squad for the remainder of the series, citing injury concerns on February 9.

The following day, several emerging reports indicated that the cricketer was not dropped because of any injury concerns but was ruled out due to his poor form.

Shreyas Iyer was subsequently asked to revert to his domestic roots by playing Ranji Trophy 2024 for Mumbai, in a bid to regain some form with the bat.

While the cricketer opted himself out of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy 2024 quarterfinals due to an injury, he was confirmed "fit" by NCA's Nitin Patel through an email to the selectors.

It remains to be seen how the next few months will pan out for Iyer. His back trouble already made him miss the entire IPL 2023 season last year. Iyer is slated to return to KKR's setup for the forthcoming IPL 2024 event.
