Tearaway fast bowler Mayank Yadav is set to be monitored by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) medical team after he sustained a side strain during his recent appearance against Gujarat Titans.

The cricketer walked off the field after bowling just one over, with fellow speedster Yash Thakur powering his side to an emphatic victory at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium instead.

Mayank Yadav set to miss two-three weeks of IPL 2024

As per latest development, Mayank Yadav is set to miss two or three weeks’ worth of action this IPL 2024 season owing to an injury. After walking off the field midway into the game against Gujarat Titans on April 7, Yadav’s recovery progress will now be monitored by the LSG medical team.

The 21-year-old made his IPL debut earlier this season with a game against Punjab Kings. The right-arm fast bowler celebrated the occasion with a scintillating three-wicket haul and a ‘Player of the Match’ award.

Moreover, Mayank Yadav also crashed RCB’s famed batting line-up in his very next appearance with another match-winning three-fer. Through his twin bowling spells and resultant recognition, the Delhi cricketer became the first player in history to win ‘Player of the Match’ awards in his first two IPL games.

Apart from his wicket-taking abilities, Mayank Yadav has also impressed one-and-all with his sheer pace and accuracy. He even sent down a 155.8kph bullet to Punjab Kings captain and Team India veteran Shikhar Dhawan to record the fastest delivery of the IPL 2024 season, in his debut game no less.

In his absence, the KL Rahul-led LSG troops will now face Delhi Capitals in match number 26 of the tournament on April 12.
