James Anderson is the legend of the game and is the most successful pacer to play Test cricket with 685 wickets. He has over 1000 wickets in first-class cricket and his ability to swing the ball both ways has bamboozled best of the batters for two decades now.

He is still going strong at the age of 40 and with Ashes coming up in home conditions, the veteran of 179 Test matches, was gearing up for another big performance. However, his preparations have now hit a roadblock.

All was going right for the right-arm pacer as he bowled some lovely spells for Lancashire against Somerset on the opening day of of a County Championship game between two teams. He took two wickets and bowled 14 overs while giving away just 16 runs but walked off the field because of some discomfort just before rain interrupted the game on Day 1.

On Day 2, he did not take the field with his teammates and that would be a matter of concern for the English fans and team management ahead of Ashes. The Lancashire spokesperson clarified that Anderson is off the field with a 'minor issue' and is being assessed currently.

So, the extent of the injury is still now known and England will hope that Anderson gets fit soon and is ready to roar when the first Test of the Ashes starts on 16th of June. The game against Somerset is his fourth game of this County Championship and before this game, the right-arm pacer took 14 wickets from three matches.

If Anderson's injury does turn out to be serious, it will be a big blow to England as the likes of Jofra Archer and Olly Stone are already struggling with elbow and hamstring injuries respectively.
